Dr. Magner is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in both cranial and spinal neurosurgery. Dr. Magner is particularly adept at micro-neurosurgery, utilizing the operative microscope in his surgeries whenever feasible to improve patient outcomes and to limit patients' operative exposure and morbidity.A Cincinnati, Ohio, native, Dr. Magner was valedictorian of Moeller High School (2001). He earned his BA with cum laude and University Honors with Distinction from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (2005). He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and was a Neuroscience Pathway Scholar (2009). Dr. Magner completed his neurosurgery residency and neurocritical care enfolded fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, where he also served as Chief Resident (2015). He is board-certified in neurosurgery and practiced at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati prior to moving to the Denver area in 2020.While in Cincinnati, Dr. Magner's special interest was in rebuilding its cranial and starting its neurocritical care program. Since his arrival, the Christ Hospital instituted 24/7 continuous EEG access, re-established an affiliation with the University of Cincinnati neurosurgery residency program and was the first hospital in the region to utilize 5-ALA fluorescence on-label in glioblastoma surgery.Dr. Magner is married to Dr. Kristin Magner a board-certified OB/Gyn. They have three small children and decided to move to the Denver region for the opportunities outdoors and the family-friendly atmosphere. They especially enjoy hiking and boating and love the commitment to an outdoor lifestyle seemingly universally found among Coloradoans.
